The Birdstep RDM product line consists of embeddable Databases accommodating differing deployment scenarios. Among the vendor's current offerings are:
- Compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit platforms, RDM Server is an embeddable database management system employing client/server architecture. RDM Server features extension modules that allow developers to incorporate application business logic centrally, facilitating a thin-client environment. Other features include the DBs transaction system and hot-online backup functionality. Birdstep RDM Server is targeted to developers of embedded applications in multiple industries and markets, such as financial services, medical devices, telecommunications, networking equipment, business automation and e-business applications.
The vendor states that RDM Server can handle 18 quintillion records per table, and includes a configurable in-memory table system that allows the developer choice in allocating data, indexes and blobs between memory and persistent storage.
- Birdstep RDM Mobile provides data management in a range of mobile and embedded devices. The new version contains feature additions including SQL, named hierarchies, support for the network data model, and enhanced multi-user support. It supports the relational, the network, the object oriented, and the hierarchical data model in the same package.
